In Poetry Workshop, we will write new poems each meeting using a variety of prompts and exercises, as well as use the work of contemporary poets to influence our writing, all with the goal of creating new work and improving on existing work. Students will also have opportunities to perform at local open mics and to be published in a class chapbook. 
 
Instructor, Matthew Gallant, taught English and Creative Writing for twenty years in public schools. In that time, he also ran an independent poetry press publishing the likes of Jesse Parent (viral poet on YouTube), competed in poetry slam, and hosted numerous monthly open mics. HHe is the author of one full length collection, a dozen chapbooks, and his work has been published in numerous print and online publications.
