
Summer African Drumming Sessions

Camp Details:

Camp Location: Aya Cultural Arts Studio, 3504 Urbana Pike, Frederick (Urbana), MD

Camp Duration: For rising K-3 graders, July 24 - 28. For rising 4-9 graders, July 31 - August 4

Camp Time: 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM
-
Cost: $175 per week

Activities:

African Drumming Sessions: Campers will have the opportunity to learn the art of African drumming, explore different rhythms and songs, and develop their social skills.

Cultural Education: We will provide insights into the rich cultural heritage behind African drumming, including history, traditions, and folklore.

Team Building: Through group activities and collaborations, campers will learn the importance of teamwork and cooperation.

Performance Opportunities: At the end of the camp session, campers will showcase their talents and skills through a short performance for family and friends at 3PM the Friday of their camp.

If you have your own size appropriate djembe, you may bring it. Otherwise all drums are provided
What to Bring:

Campers should bring their own water bottles labeled with their names to stay hydrated throughout the camp.

Comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement during drumming sessions.

Sunscreen, hats, and any other necessary items for outdoor activities.

A snack for the designated break time. Please ensure it is a nut-free snack to accommodate any allergies.
Drop-off and Pick-up:

Drop-off time is between 12:15 PM and 12:30 PM.

Pick-up time is promptly at 3:30 PM.

Please inform the camp staff in advance if someone other than the designated guardian will be picking up your child.
Policies:

Safety: The safety and well-being of campers are our top priorities. We maintain a secure and supervised environment throughout the camp. In case of emergencies, we will follow appropriate protocols and notify parents/guardians immediately.

Behavior Expectations: We expect all campers to treat fellow campers, staff, and the facility with respect and kindness. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior may result in a discussion with the camper and their parent/guardian or in a severe case, removal from the program.

Medical Information: Please provide any relevant medical information, allergies, or special considerations when completing the registration form. In case of medical emergencies, we will take necessary actions as specified by the parent/guardian.

Photography and Videography: Aya Cultural Arts Studio may take photographs and videos during camp activities for promotional purposes. If you have concerns about this, please inform us in writing before the camp session begins.

Registration and Payments: Camp fees must be paid in full before the camp session starts. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within one week of the camp start date.

Dress: All students must wear age-appropriate clothing, closed-toe shoes and clothing that allows for free movement.

Devices: Students are not allowed to be on devices during the session or during any breaks. If it is required they have a device for a medical reason, such as a diabetes monitor, please indicate this in registration.
